    Bought this cover for my 2024 Chevy 2500HD a few weeks ago and really like the look and functionality of it. I took the measurements per the instructions and it said I did not need to use the shims - installed by myself in 30-40 minutes. A week later when driving on the interstate at 75mph my kids noticed a section of the cover lifting up off one of the side rails - about 3 feet behind the cab. Evidently the little teeth on the cover were not falling into the rail and getting locked down in that section. No adjusting or moving the cover could get the teeth on both sides to fall into their groove, so I had to go back, take it all apart, and add the shims to the rails. Now everything seems to be working and locked down good. Just an FYI for anyone that gets this cover and notices a section not getting latched down - might need to add those shims to close the gap and make it fit more snug in certain areas.

    2024 AT4X here with the 6.6 gas and 10 speed, getting about 11.5 all around, but it does have bigger tires and a little lift to it. I see that you solely relied on the trucks MPG for your video, have you hand calculated your MPG? Some vehicles are way off, but I will say my hand calculated MPG is usually within 0.2 of what the GMC reports.

    Recently installed a RecPro and had the same issue. I purchased a 10k thermistor from Trane to relocate it. My plan was to disconnect the factory thermistor (located clipped to the evap coils) and connect the one i purchased, locate it on the wall next to my old Coleman tstat. But…before doing that i, like you, experimented. I unhooked the factory thermistor from its coil cradle, straightened the wire and wrapped a soft cloth around it. There was enough wire after straightening to get it about 8” away from the coil and more into the return air plenum. The RecPro is designed to run the evap fan all the time. After these mods the unit works fine.

    2021 Chev 3500 6.6 Gas 4WD Z71 Crew Cab with 8ft bed 65MPH 15.9MPG Unloaded 9.3MPG-9.5MPG Loaded Trailer-3600lbs Unloaded Trailer-13,600lbs Loaded Towing a 259D3 Cat Skid Steer This is all with the 6 speed transmission. Personally, for roughly 2MPG difference compared from 6 speed to 10 speed. I personally wouldn't trade or get another truck just because of the transmission alone. My personal opinion of course but also my results comparing to your results. I've done a trip from Oceanside California to Glendale Arizona to pick up a cabinet for a jobsite and I've done my fair share of unloaded and loaded driving. Being business oriented and construction, I'm always watching my profit margin and MPG/ gas prices are a big deal for me to pay attention to and know what is getting spent and how much and why. Thought I'd share for others who are curious as well and hopefully this helps.

    I think 14-15 mpg is very doable for empty daily driving. That’s what my 2022 gets. I don’t think the purpose of the 10 speed was fuel mileage though. I think its purpose is better drivability with its closer ratios to keep the engine wound up in its power band more. My 2022 is over 48,000 miles now. No oil usage. I do change oil at 3,000 miles and have since it was new. But non usage. I get 8 quarts or very close to it out at every oil change.

    I have a 2024 GMC 3500HD 4x4 Std bed. I have just over 4k miles. I have checked the oil every 1k miles. Absolutely NO engine oil lost. Thanks to you, I installed the BORLA exhaust. I love it. Your videos are excellent. I am getting 11ish MPG in heavy, hot (phoenix, AZ) city traffic. 14ish MPG on all freeway at 75-80mph. 15.5-16mpg at 70mph. The Borla exhaust had a problem with my truck. The system came in 3 sections. The front pipe (closest to engine) does not fit my truck. I contacted Borla with my VIN. They did not have an answer. I'm wondering if the 3500 is slightly different than 2500. I had an exhaust shop custom fit the front section, so everything works great. Borla even sent me another pipe but it was also incorrect.

One thing to keep in mind if you see any issues with 12v items in your tent, it isn't typical to run 12v wiring in the same conduit as 120 vac wiring. With a relatively short run you should be ok but if you power computers are use audio and have buzzing it could be interference. Again great looking setup.

    the bottom seal is just holding water in once it leaks, if it does get in you want it to escape or give it a chance too.....bottom seal prevents that a bit if its raining and your parked, slope your truck where the water will drain out the back...if driving nothing you can do thinking of trading my 23 in for specific purpose of that tailgate, I loved it when I had it in a 1500 and in my 2500 it would be even more so

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks День тому

      Great question. Short answer is I'm not sure. Long answer...on my last truck/trailer the tire tech had an issue getting TPMS to seal on inside profile. I'm not sure if it was the overall diameter or what, but the tech had to use what he called a "TPMS install kit" that I assume had a bunch of fittings and washers to help adapt it. He said it was pretty common and something a tire shop should have on hand when I asked. This go round, the GM ones fit with no issues for me. Sorry I cannot be of more help on this one. Hope you're able to figure it out though.

    Great Video, I did the relocation kit and had the same results you are describing. And with the extra resistance I noticed the thermostat skips degrees and will only detect odd numbers, so if I set it to 72 it won’t shut off till it hits 71. Not a big deal as the camper is definitely more comfortable now. Only issue I had recently was the unit freezing up because it was running so much cause it’s so hot. The auto low fan seems to be not helping it get rid of moisture on the coil fast enough.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks 4 дні тому

      Thank you! And sorry to hear about the unit freezing up. I haven't had that issue yet, but some others have mentioned the same so I'll have to keep an eye out. You probably already checked the freeze sensor in fins up in plenum, but a few other users commented that their freeze sensor had fallen out of the fins or the manufacturer didn't put it in the right spot to begin with.

    • @LDub_FlyingFish
      @LDub_FlyingFish 3 дні тому

      @@AdventureRocks yes it’s only when it’s hot hot, and the freeze sensor does work shuts it off and then will restart, but it seems on low fan speed it builds quicker. If it does happen I just run the fan till it melts and it’ll run. Also my location I moved the temp sensor to is more accurate to actual room temp, but close to the kitchenette so it’s susceptible to temp fluctuations during cooking and I just have to keep that in mind. Just moments of inconvenience compared to when it was cycling all the time and I’d have to drive it down to 65 to get 73 in the camper.

    Would it make sense to upgrade the car battery or the car generator to get more benefit from this charger?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks 6 днів тому

      @@jjdd519 Great point. Likely it would benefit indeed. I remember when I ordered my truck there was an option to get upgraded dual alternators, which I think is common for ambulances and other purpose-built vehicles that draw more power.

    You have shown the process of charging the Ecoflow battery while stopped in the forest. I wonder if it is possible to organize the alternator in such a way that it helps to charge the ecoflow while the car is moving, i.e. while traveling, when the battery is, say, in the passenger seat? Thanks.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks 7 днів тому

      Great question! Indeed, it's best to first test it as demonstrated in this video just to make sure it is compatible with your vehicle's alternator and electrical system. Then, once confirmed it is designed to be permanently installed using the supplied 16 ft umbilical cord. You could do a front passenger location, but some might find it more convenient to locate in a rear trunk option, mounting the module and securing the power station.

    Biggest issue with this cover is it isn’t functional in the winter with hard freezes and ice. What you’ll find is that the folds hard freezes to the rails and you have to yank pretty hard to break it free. Even after breaking free, you may also have to force it back down to try and secure it. Other than that, I have really enjoyed mine.

    Having a 5th wheel, I really dislike that video connector being at the bumper instead of in the bed. I'm sure TT owners are happy where it is, but a flat 4 in the bed?? That just seems worthless.to me.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks 7 днів тому

      Great point. That is a con for fifth wheel owners. I think they put the 4-pin in bed for slide in truck campers. I saw a gentlemen switch the bed/bumper connectors and make it the reverse...time consuming probably.

    We bought a fish cleaning table that comes with a faucet, sink and a drain that we drain into 5 gallon bucket. We get the water from our outdoor shower that I changed out to a hot/cold quick connect shower faucet , so I can preset the temperature and get warm water to come out of the fish cleaning table faucet that is similar to your faucet.

    Picked up a 2021 Denali 1500 - parked it in the garage - went to bed - next morning - tailgate it down - camera showed it dropping down after 11pm. Later that day, was towing an enclosed trailer - and while loading the trailer up over the span of two hours it dropped on its own four times. There was very heavy rain the night before. Wondering when they are going to expand this recall to 1500 models!

    Thank you very much. Our second trip in our new camper I realized no matter how I set the thermostat it was incorrect with our inside thermometer. Also it was short cycling just crazy. The ac would kick on and in seconds the thermostat dropped 10 degrees yet we was still sweating. I started researching and came across a few threads and this video explaining the obvious issue. You saved me a ton of trouble shooting and wasting time with the dealership warranty. I’d rather spend my time camping. Thanks so much! To make sure I do not do anything to my warranty I ordered the extension kit from castlewinch. I will cut their harness instead of the factory one but still use the two spare wires and connect the other side of the cut harness there. Then if needed 5 minutes and my factory wiring will be original. I will be doing this tomorrow morning before it gets too hot. With the details I expect no snags. Thank you and hopefully Furrion sees this and WTH were they thinking?🤔 😮
